Department of Health Approves Canid’s Pfizer Redistribution Plan

On Monday, May 10th, the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was approved by the FDA for persons aged 12 and older. However, the minimum order a vaccination center can request of this vaccine is of 1170 doses. Additionally, the vaccine doses expire in two weeks in most common freezers. For private pediatric practices, that is way too many vaccines to administer in such a short period of time.

At Canid, we have been working with 11 Pediatric practices in Long Island on a plan to have one practice make the 1170-dose order and redistribute the inventory amongst 10 other neighboring practices. That plan was approved by the Department of Health! We received the vaccines at RBK Pediatrics on Tuesday, May 11th and are preparing to roll them out this weekend.
